AND THEN WE ALSO HAD OUR MOVE ACROSS TWO RANGES HIKING CHALLENGE LAST SATURDAY, I BELIEVE IT WAS.

AND THEY HIKED FROM THE RANGES IN MARANA ALL THE WAY INTO ORO VALLEY.

THERE WAS A HIKE THAT WAS 18.5 MILES LONG. THAT WAS CALLED THE MASSIVE HIKE.

IT IS PRETTY MASSIVE. THE MEGA WAS 14 MILES, THE MAJOR HIKE WAS TEN AND A MIGHTY HIKE OF 7.5 MILES.

AND LIKE I SAID, 225 MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY PARTICIPATED IN THAT.

SO REALLY OR I'M SORRY, 350 OF OUR RESIDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THAT.

SO A GREAT EVENT FOR THE TOWN. AND THAT CONCLUDES MY REPORT, MR. MAYOR. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I DID FORGET TO MENTION, AND OF THE PASSING OF A LONGTIME MARANA RESIDENT, MEL POTTER. I DON'T KNOW IF ANYBODY KNOWS MEL.

HE'S LIVED IN MARANA FOR 50 YEARS, MAYBE LONGER.

HIS FIRST PLACE WAS OVER ON MOORE AND SANDERS, WHERE FIANCHETTO HOMES ARE.

HE HAD A SMALL PLACE THERE, AND HE'S JUST ALWAYS BEEN SOMEBODY THAT'S BEEN A STRONG SUPPORTER OF MARANA.

AND I THINK A LOT OF YOU WILL KNOW HIS DAUGHTER, SHERRY CERVI.

THE MULTI WORLD CHAMPION BARREL RACER. AND SO, YOU KNOW, WE WANT OUR PRAYERS WITH HIS FAMILY.

ORDINANCE NUMBER 2025.003 RELATING TO FINANCE AMENDING THE TOWN OF MARANA COMPREHENSIVE FEE SCHEDULE TO ADD VARIOUS FEES RELATED TO THE MARANA AQUATIC RECREATION CENTER.

DECLARING AS A PUBLIC RECORD FILED WITH THE TOWN CLERK THE AMENDMENTS OF THE TOWN OF MARANA COMPREHENSIVE FEE SCHEDULE ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE 2025.003. MR. CONROY. MAYOR POST, VICE MAYOR ZIEGLER, IT'S AN HONOR TO BE HERE TONIGHT. THIS PROCESS STARTED JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO.

WE STARTED WORKING ON THE FEES. WE HOPE TO HAVE THEM ADOPTED TONIGHT, BUT I JUST WANTED TO RUN THROUGH A LITTLE CHRONOLOGICAL BACKGROUND ON YOUR SCREEN. ACTUALLY, BRANDON LOWE, OUR RAISE YOUR HAND, BRANDON.

THERE YOU ARE. HE'S DONE A HECK OF A JOB WORKING ON THIS OVER THE LAST YEAR.

HE STARTED A YEAR AGO TODAY. AND I SAY THAT BECAUSE HIS FIRST DAY ON THE JOB, YOU KNOW, WE TALKED TO HIM ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS IS JOB ONE.

YOU GOT TO YOU GOT TO DO THE RESEARCH. YOU GOT TO DO THE DUE DILIGENCE REGARDING THESE FEES.

AND HE DID. SO REALLY WE SAID MARCH OF 24. WE STARTED THE PROCESS.

WE EVALUATED TEN COMMUNITIES WHO HAVE COMPARABLE TYPE FACILITIES, EITHER AN AQUATIC CENTER OR REC CENTER.

BUT, YOU KNOW, AN APPLE FOR AN APPLE, AN ORANGE FOR AN ORANGE.

AND WE WENT THROUGH THAT PROCESS AND LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF EVALUATION BACK AND FORTH.

AND THEN, OF COURSE, AUGUST 13TH, WE CAME TO COUNCIL WITH A STUDY SESSION.

WE THOUGHT THAT WAS A GREAT SESSION. COUNCIL GAVE US DIRECTION THAT NIGHT.

THERE WERE MULTIPLE THINGS REGARDING VETERANS, SENIORS.

JUST A NUMBER OF ITEMS THAT YOU ALL BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION THAT NIGHT THAT YOU WANTED US TO LOOK INTO DEEPER AND TO FINE TUNE IT.

AND WE DID. AND THEN WE CAME BACK IN DECEMBER, DECEMBER 17TH, AND WE PRESENTED THE ADJUSTMENTS THAT YOU HAD.

AND AT THAT POINT, YOU GAVE US THE GREEN LIGHT TO TAKE THOSE FEES AND GO OUT IN A 60 DAY PUBLIC NOTICE.

SO I'M HERE TONIGHT. BASICALLY, WE'RE AT THE CONCLUSION OF THAT 60 DAY PUBLIC NOTICE.

IT'S FEBRUARY 25TH AND WE'RE BACK TO COUNCIL TO BASICALLY REVIEW WHERE WE ARE.

AND OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT HAD CONCERNS, BUT OVERALL, WE'VE HAD A LOT OF SUPPORT AND WE'VE HEARD A LOT FROM, YOU KNOW, EVERY TWO WEEKS YOU ALL GET A NEWSLETTER.

IT GOES OUT TO ABOUT 7500 FOLKS, AND THOSE ARE A LOT OF OUR HARDCORE USERS.

AND WE REALLY GOT GOOD FEEDBACK FROM A LOT OF FAMILIES WHO ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THAT.

SO OVERALL IT'S BEEN VERY, VERY POSITIVE. IF WE GET APPROVAL THIS EVENING FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, WE WANT TO START A PRESALE ON APRIL 14TH. AND AS OF TODAY, I MEAN, THERE'S STILL A LOT OF FUR FLYING.

WE GOT 100 PEOPLE A DAY WORKING IN THAT CENTER.

SO, YOU KNOW, YOU GOT TO HAVE YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL IF YOU WALK IN.

IT'S WE'RE REALLY ON THE HOME STRETCH. AND I THINK CHASE IS DOING A HECK OF A JOB.

BUT AS WE HEAR TONIGHT, MAY 3RD IS A SOLID OPENING.

CUT THE RIBBON DATE. SO WITH THAT DATE JUST STEPPING BACK THREE WEEKS, WE WOULD WANT TO START THE PRESALE ON THE 14TH.

SO, YOU KNOW, WHAT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT WAS FAMILIES, FAMILY.

IF THERE'S THREE IN THE FAMILY OR THERE'S TEN IN A FAMILY.

AND WHAT WE HAD SEEN IN EVALUATING THOSE TEN MUNICIPALITIES, WHAT WAS VERY COMMON IS THAT IT MIGHT BE 650 FOR A FAMILY FOR A YEAR, BUT ONCE YOU ADDED IT A FIFTH PERSON, IT WAS ANOTHER $50.

AND I'M NOT GOING TO MENTION THE ORGANIZATION'S NAME, BUT THERE'S ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR REGION THAT DO THAT TOO, WHERE IT'S $50 PLUS AFTER THE FOURTH PERSON. SO, I JUST SHARE THAT WITH YOU BECAUSE I THINK THAT'S A VALUE OF OURS AS A TOWN, I KNOW IT'S A VALUE OF YOURS. COUNCILMEMBER COMERFORD.

THERE WAS REALLY GOOD FEEDBACK ON THAT. THE OTHER ITEM THAT HAS COME UP THAT HERE AGAIN, I WANT TO GET THESE OUTLIERS THAT I THINK ARE IMPORTANT TO US.

SENIORS. SO RIGHT NOW WE HAVE FIVE. AS OF TODAY, WE HAVE 520 SENIORS REGISTERED AT OUR SENIOR CENTER IN ORA MAE HARN PARK.

PRETTY GOOD. AND I MENTIONED THIS AT THE RETREAT LAST WEEK.

I MEAN, VISITATION THERE WITH THAT GROUP IS STEADY EVERY DAY.

SO OUR POLICY, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SEE IT IN HERE, BUT IT'S A POLICY THAT THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE.

AND THIS WE HAD THIS RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING. WE MENTIONED IT IN OUR PREVIOUS MEETINGS. BUT I WANT TO GO BACK TO IT. IF YOU AND IT'S $40 A YEAR TO BE PART OF THAT CLUB, AND IF YOU'RE IN THAT CLUB, YOU'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE THE CENTER.

OKAY. SO, PASS WISE THAT REALLY COVERS, I THINK THE, THE BIG AREAS OF THE CONCERN.

AND I THINK ALSO PEOPLE WHO ARE A LITTLE MORE VULNERABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND HOW WE'RE GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. AND BACK TO, OF COURSE, OUR VETERANS WITH THE 10% AND ACTIVE DUTY.

SO HERE, THE RENTAL OF THE SPACES $120 FOR I'M GOING TO USE THE COMMUNITY ROOM BECAUSE I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY KIND OF LIKE THE FAMILY PASS. THAT'S PROBABLY GOING TO BE THE MOST POPULAR RENTAL.

SO FOR ANYBODY IN THOSE SIX ZIP CODES, THEY CAN RENT THE ROOM FOR $120 AN HOUR.

IT'S A $2 MINIMUM, TWO HOUR MINIMUM. AND THEN WHAT WE'LL DO, YOU CAN RENT IT BY THE HALF HOUR.

SO IF YOU NEED IT FOR 2.5 HOURS, WE'RE NOT GOING TO CHARGE YOU FOR A THIRD HOUR.

BUT WE BUILT THIS FOR OUR RESIDENTS, AND THE PRIORITY IS PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY USING THE FACILITY.

WILL WE RENT IT TO SOMEONE WHO IS RUNNING A TOURNAMENT? SURE WE WILL. BUT THE PRIORITY IS OUR OWN PROGRAMS. THE ONE THAT I WILL BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION UP THERE, THOUGH, BECAUSE I THINK IT'S PROBABLY GOING TO BE AS FAR AS COMMUNITY MEMBERS, THE HIGHEST RENTAL IS A $25 AN HOUR FOR A POOL CABANA.

NOW, WHEN WE WENT, WHEN WE SURVEYED THAT POOL, CABANAS WERE MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THAT TO RENT.

BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT THIS LIKE A RAMADA. SO THIS IS BASICALLY A STRUCTURE WITH A COVER THAT YOU CAN HAVE YOUR FAMILY, YOU KNOW, 30FT FROM THE POOL AND DO A KIDS PARTY.

I MEAN, YOU'D RENT IT JUST LIKE YOU WOULD A RAMADA, $25 AN HOUR BY TEN PEOPLE IN IT.

YOU COULD RENT, YOU KNOW, YOU GET MORE FAMILY, YOU COULD RENT THE ONE NEXT TO IT.

BUT AS FAR AS HIGH FREQUENCY OF A RENTAL IN THE RESEARCH WE'VE DONE, WE ANTICIPATE THAT'S GOING TO BE A VERY HIGH RENT FACILITY FROM THE PUBLIC. SO I'LL GO BACK TO THAT JUST FOR A SECOND.

SO THEY WILL BE IN THERE USING THAT THAT NEW COMPETITIVE POOL.

SO WE STATEWIDE THE LAST COMMENT THAT I HAVE AND I'LL OPEN IT UP TO COMMENTS WE FALL.

IF YOU LOOK AT THOSE TEN MUNICIPALITIES THAT WE BENCHMARKED WITH, WE ARE IN THE AVERAGE TO BELOW AVERAGE RATE WHEN YOU GO ACROSS THE BOARD.

YOU KNOW, WE DIDN'T COMPARE IT TO THREE MUNICIPALITIES.

WE DID TEN. AND I THINK THE VOLUME OF HAVING THAT CROSS SECTION REALLY GAVE US A MUCH BETTER PERSPECTIVE IN REGARD TO WHERE WE SHOULD FALL AS AN ORGANIZATION.

I MEAN, WE'RE PROGRESSIVE. WE WANT TO BE PROGRESSIVE.

SO WE REALLY HIT ALL THE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE STATE THAT HAVE ANYTHING CLOSE TO US, AND WE'RE IN THE AVERAGE TO LOW.

I THOUGHT THEY WERE TOO HIGH. I NOTICED THERE WAS CONCERN EXPRESSED BY THE MAYOR TO MAKE SURE OUR MARINA COMMUNITY ENJOYS THE CENTER THAT THIS CENTER IS MEANT FOR.

MARANA, IT WAS MENTIONED THAT GOODYEAR'S RECREATION CENTER HAS 9000 MEMBERSHIPS.
